The „Goethe Route“ is a marketing cooperation of nine attractive cities in Hesse, Thuringia and Saxony which are all closely connected with Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, the most famous German poet, his life and work.
This cooperation has been existing since 1999 and focuses on promoting its touristic attractions, culture and event highlights to visitors from all over the world but mainly from Japan. In order to increase interest in the member cities, different marketing activities are realized each year, i. e. trade fairs, advertisements and study trips for press and travel industry.

All the cities are situated not far from each other and very well connected by road and public transportation. This makes it easy and convenient to combine them on a holiday in Germany.
